Question 3 What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I also got a lot of feedback on my DVD covers and Poster which I also took into account and improved. I had to use more images was one of the main peer feedback which I had got. Therefore I took more images and used them in my work. I also got told to relate my DVD cover and music video more. So I took some still frame shots off of my music video and used them in my DVD cover.

Question 3 What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I have had quite a bit of audience feedback which came from my teachers and peers. They told me what worked well and what could be improved, so I took onboard the feedback and improved my work. First of all I had to adjust the different shots so that they were exactly in time with the music. The shots could have been milliseconds out of time. I had to adjust the shots were the singer was a bit out of time with the lyrics, so I corrected the problem. Another bit of feedback I was told about was to speed up the shots. At first the shots were way to slow for the music. However I didn’t have enough footage to use to do this. So to overcome this problem I had to film more footage and then I had to use it to speed up my shots so that it was in time with the music. One thing that I had to do on certain shots was to add effects because the actual shot may have been disturbing to viewers e.g. the shot were I am injecting a needle into my arm. So I put a blur like affect on this so you could not make out the needle pretending to go into the arm.

Question 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Other media technologies I used were a still camera and a video camera. I used the still camera to take my images for my DVD inside and outside cover and I used the video camera for footage on my music video. With the still camera I was able to get lots of images in different shot types. For example I had a range of shot types which went from Low angle shot’s on my artist to make him look superior to a long establishing shot of the park with the abandoned warehouse, which I used to set a mysterious setting. With the video camera I was very experimental. We put the video camera on a tripod so that the camera was held steadier when filming the band section of my music video. I also ran with the camera to create the effect of the camera being in 1st person. This was effective because it added intensity. I also put the camera on a tripod so that the shots were held steady. I could also adjust the tripod so that I could have high angle shots.

Question 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Another media technology I have used to create my DVD covers and Poster advertising the band was Adobe Photoshop. This piece of software was very useful and I was able to create my DVD covers and Poster exactly how I had planned them down on Paper, with a few better adaptations. I had the ability to choose any font I wanted from www.dafont.com and I could download this font and then use it in Photoshop. Photoshop allowed me to use my photos which I had taken. With a few of the photos I took which were of different band members, I used the blur tool so I could blur the images together. This made the separate images look like there together thus creating the effect of the band members being a band. With other images like an open field with a warehouse I used as a background image for the outside of my DVD cover. With an image of me standing against a wall I didn’t want the background in it so I used the magic wand tool to get rid of the background and keep the photo of me so I could stick it onto another Image. This worked well because it fit into my bands genre better. I had to make my DVD cover look like a real one so therefore I included a bar code on the back as well as small print, record label and a copyright logo.

Question 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

One media technology that I used to create my music video was Final Cut. Final Cut is a very advanced piece of editing software and was very capable at doing anything I wanted to my music video. First of all I placed all my shots throughout the video and cut them up according to the beat of the music. There are quick paced shots all the way through the song as the song is at a high tempo. One problem that I encountered when putting my footage on Final Cut was that I didn’t have enough footage. Therefore I had to go out and get more film so that I could use it in my music video. Another thing that was very useful on Final Cut was the unlimited choice of different effects. Therefore I have used many different effects on my music video. This includes flashing lights, split screen with two different shots, black and white shots, shots sped up and shots reversed.
